Pregnancy classes
Elliot and I have finished up with our pregnancy and birth classes on October 6-7. We had classes 1-6 on both Saturday and Sunday. They were the part 2 classes where they discuss more about the birthing process and go over what to expect. Of course, I was the only one there pregnant with twins. The other interesting thing was that of the 13 other couples there, only 1 was having a girl! That's a lot of boys being born in late 2012. My favorite part of the class was having the partners massage and practice other relaxation techniques. I was also surprised that they only spent an hour or so talking about having a Cesarean birth. It just seems everyone I have talked to or heard about having a baby in the last few months had to have a C-section. The class layout made it seem like C-sections rarely happen, but I'm getting the impression that is just NOT the case. Of course, being the twin mother representative, the teacher singled me out and asked if I had been told about having a C-section. I responded that it depended on the baby's positions, but as a mother of twins, I knew having a C-sections was a distinct probability. I mean I am not excited about it, but some things are out of my control. I'm just glad our classes are over and done.
The bump is growing...
Another example of how the bump can look smaller or bigger on the same day, depending on the camera or me
Ladies Day
The on Saturday, October 13 was WNC Ladies Day hosted by East Chestnut Church of Christ this year. The annual Ladies Day rotates every four years between the Brevard, Biltmore, Hendersonville and East Chestnut congregations. All the ladies in the congregation participated in various ways from leading singing, doing the registration table, organizing the food, decorating, sending out the mailings and other numerous tasks. The speakers this year were Joan, Jan and Amy Lunsford and the theme was Life Is Good, with each of us giving a perspective on how life was good as a wife (Joan), mother (Jan) and sister/friend (me). I was nervous about speaking in front of a large group, but Elliot really helped me by helping me create a great outline and firming up was Bible passages to use. He's really awesome that way!
At most Ladies Day's they present the speaker(s) with a small gift, but since we were from the congregation and did not use an "outside" speaker, we tried to make it clear that no gift was needed or expected. Well, we each received a lovely card and handmade fleece blanket anyway. The other ladies of the congregation got together and made the blankets. The funniest thing was how well the blanket's pattern matched our personalities. Joan's pretty outfit was a purple floral motif, so was her blanket. Jan had worn a brown skirt, orange top, and green jacket in autumn colors. Jan's blanket was orange pumpkins on an autumn background. I was wearing a black dress, with a turquoise necklace and leopard print ballet flats. My blanket was solid black with colorful butterfly accents. The blankets were made weeks ago and we had no idea they even existed. Even the audience members found it hilarious that they had nailed our personalities so well.
25 weeks and growing!
Yes, I realized as I uploaded this photos that I am wearing the same shirt at 24 and 25 weeks. Hehehe!
Do I look pregnant from the back? People keep telling me that they can't tell I'm pregnant until I turn around and then its like BAM!
How's Momma?
I am still experiencing some morning throwing up, mostly if I move too fast or get too hot. I occasionally am nauseous depending on how much or what type of food I eat. The boys also expect to be feed regularly or I start burping and have very bad heartburn. Most days I better eat by 5:30 pm or I am in pain.
Besides constantly being tired, I also have to make sure I am getting enough water and sitting down more. This is hard to do while teaching, which is always super busy. If I don't rest and get enough water, my back aches even more and my belly is just SO heavy. I almost want to hire someone to walk behind me and lift up my belly and support it as I walk. Ha! I'll be taking applications...
The boys have been moving and kicking more, harder and more noticeable, but every time I call Elliot over to feel or he tries for feel for several minutes, the twins won't move. I was sitting in the recliner yesterday and one kicked so hard and prominently, I said "wow" out loud and I think the paper, that was resting on my stomach, moved! The boys move in the morning and know to wake up in time for school, probably because they are ready to eat breakfast. They also move more after dinner, when I am sitting more and resting. They also seem to enjoy music. They really start moving in the car, when the radio/CD is going or in church when we are singing. Pretty crazy.
I promise a C-section is not that bad. I'm considering doing another one with this baby....not sure yet though.
