23 week update

The weekend of September 22-23, 2012 my parents came to visit and helped us get ready for the twins arrival.  Elliot had taken apart the huge desk we had in the office and Elliot and my dad carried it out to the garage. Then they moved, while I supervised-haha-the guest bed, nightstand and my antique vanity into the guest room. The room is pretty small, but does not look too bad. Mom helped me get a little grocery shopping done-its getting harder for me go by myself due to bending down to the shelves and putting bags in the car.  Mom also made us a delicious dinner of meatloaf (one of my favorites), scalloped potatoes, cream style corn and salad. Very yummy and much appreciated since I did not have to cook it.  It also made for some tasty leftovers for our lunchboxes!

On September 25th I had another ultrasound and Dr. appointment.  This was a very brief ultrasound as they were mainly checking for body parts they were unable to see at my last ultrasound, the 19 week ultrasound, because of how the boys were positioned. Thankfully, both boys have 4 chamber hearts, stomachs, livers and are growing appropriately. The boys were lying differently this time, so it allowed them to see everything they needed. On another great note, Baby A, the lower one, thus called A, is head down already, but Baby B is transverse or sideways.  While the Dr. cautioned that they can still change positions between now and delivery, it is good that Baby A is already head down. Ideally, he would like both to be head down, but it is good to be 50% there! The doctor's appointment was more of a check in since I am doing pretty well so far. My next appointment is a big one on October 26.  It will be another hour long ultrasound with a Dr. appointment following. It will also be the big glucose test. Due to my work schedule, I will take the glucose at the beginning of my ultrasound, which will make the babies pretty active during the ultrasound, and since the blood sample has to be taken an hour later, they will do it a the beginning of my doctor appointment.  I'm praying it goes well, because I don't want to have to take a day off work now before the babies come to redo the test.

On Friday, September 28 after dinner Elliot's dad came over to help us move two bookcases and build a shelf.  We moved the particle board bookcase from the office to the garage, where it will still be used for storage. One of the nicer, solid wood bookcases from the former guest room is now in the new guest room.  All the junk that was on the two bookcases is now on the guest bed, so I am sorting and deciding what will go to the garage and what will be inside.  We bought a metal shelf from Sam's Club that can hold up to 600 pounds for our pantry in the garage. Elliot tried to put it together by himself earlier in the week, but discovered he needed another person's help to get the job done. Slowly, slowly the rooms are coming together.

Saturday was a fun day! Elliot, his mom and I drove an hour to Cullowhee to attend the Mountain Heritage Festival.  It has lots of crafts, food, demonstrations, music and a Cherokee stick ball game. I look forward to this event every year.  This year we bought some local wildflower honey and 2 stuffed animals for the boys.  The lady who made the stuffed animals had every pattern and size, but we chose 2 larger animals for them to chew and haul around.  We got a snake and a dragon! They also had several good sized stuff lizards, but Elliot thought they weighed too much for the boys to drag around.  These are the first items we've bought for the boys that I am actually excited about. Boy stuff is just not as cute to me as girl stuff.

Yes, we are still calling them Baby A and Baby B or the twins or the boys for the time being. We have several name candidates and are working on narrowing them down.  We are not sure if we want to reveal the names until they are born because of hearing everyone's comments about the chosen names.  Choosing a name is pretty hard and a big responsibility.

Of course, Ginger is ready for her chance to be in the pictures too.
